An ABN (Australian Business Number) allows you to act as your own business, sub-contracting services to other businesses. It is different to being an employee. When you are an employee, you often just work for one employer. But when you are a contractor, using your ABN, you can contract your services to many different individuals and companies. On an ABN, you will be paid your service fee in full, and then it is your responsibility to put aside an amount so you can pay tax at the end of the financial year.
