Archie resides in Forestville and has extensive experience as a violinist, having played for more than a decade and achieved an ABRSM Grade 8 with merit and an ABRSM Grade 5 in music theory with Distinction (Honours).
Archie offers Violin (Advanced tutoring) and Piano (Beginner) to students in the Forestville, Frenchs Forest and Belrose area.
He is a former member of both the Symphony Orchestra and Strings Orchestra at his school in Hong Kong, where he won multiple awards as a soloist and an ensemble player.
Archie has fine tuned his effective communication skils, problem solving and relating skills and he likes to impart these gifts with a wholistic approach to his music tutoring.
What really sets Archie apart is his gifting of perfect pitch! He can identify and reproduce a musical note without any reference point! It is an extremely rare and valuable skill in the music industry.
Moreover, in the Violin tutoring setting, having perfect pitch enables him to tune the instrument very quickly and accurately, identify and correct intonation problems in his students’ playing promptly, and transcribe music more easily.
He utilises this gift to improve his students’ pitch accuracy and enhance his teaching techniques. It is very important as the violin is an instrument that requires a high degree of precision and accuracy in pitch.
Archie also tutors beginner Piano and can tutor Music Therory and Musicianship up to Grade 4.
